A Place to Worship
We get together for worship as a way to show our love for God and to celebrate God’s greatness and awesomeness. We worship through music and singing, prayer, scripture reading and meditation. We are a multi-generational church with a blended musical style of classic hymns and contemporary worship songs. Our worship team is a rotation of faithful volunteers; each Sunday is a little different from the next. Sometimes it will be vocalists with simply a piano accompaniment, other times will be a full praise band. We participate in weekly communion to remember, reflect, and celebrate the sacrifice of Jesus who died for our sins and gave us the hope of eternal life in Heaven.
A Place to Learn
We are a church where ultimate authority is the Bible. Sermons and teachings are grounded in Biblical Truths. We believe that the Bible is God’s love letter to His people. It describes the extraordinary lengths He went through to fix our relationship with Him and with each other. We strive to put the Bible’s teachings at the center of all we do as a church and as followers of Jesus. We value the truth spoken plainly. What good is teaching if we struggle to understand it? We aim to teach Biblical truths in a way that everyone can understand, no matter if they’ve been following Jesus their whole lives or are just getting started.
A Place of Community and Hope
We value people. God sent His son to earth to help us find Him. We believe that our main job as Christians is to help people – ALL people – find God and the hope in Jesus. Central is a place where people encourage and help each other develop and live a balanced, committed life as a follower of Christ. We love our church family here; this group of people knows how to love and serve one another well and to hold each other accountable. We are a group of imperfect people who admit just that, but do our best to live for Jesus and encourage those around us to do the same.
A Place to Serve
We believe that “church” is not simply a place to go, but who we are. The Church as designed is a body of believers, each working with their God-given gifts/strengths/purpose to function as a whole to support the needs of Central Christian Church, serve it’s members, and serve the community. We believe in physically being the hands and feet of Jesus in Rockford, and supporting the efforts to share the gospel worldwide. Love God, Love People; Serve Both.
